Whether you want to become a beekeeper or if you are looking to make a few botanic additions to your garden to help the local bee populations, you have come to the right place!
If you are interested in becoming a beekeeper take a look at our courses & events page! Many beginner beekeeping courses are run in the Spring time. Of course, if you are interested in getting started and there are no courses scheduled or available at the time it is worthwhile picking up a book (see our recommendations below) or attending your local club meetings (which run monthly through the year) Like any new hobby you will be surprised at how quickly you become familiar with all the beekeeping jargon, and how fascinating these little creatures really are!
An excellent guide to getting started in beekeeping is provided by the BBKA, available as several comprehensive downloads from their website.
If you are interested in bees but not entirely sure if becoming a beekeeper is for you, take heart in knowing that you can contribute to the available forage for bees in your area by improving the planting in your garden or plantpots! We are hoping to bring you some useful hints and tips on how to do this, so watch this space!! Our homepage has a short but by no means definitive list of a few seasonal plants that make excellent forage for bees. The bees will really appreciate all you can offer, so you can use this as a starting point for developing and understanding a 'plants loved by bees' list.
A highly recommended book is 'Ted Hoopers Guide to Bees & Honey', shown below.
